The Irish in America
O' the luck of the Irish… and you have it! Suzanne and Jim are bringing their St. Paddy's Celebration - The Irish in America - to you.

This fun filled program shows that once a year everyone is Irish! The first St. Patrick's Day celebration/parade was held in the United States in 1737. This holiday has been with us in our country for quite a long time and the Irish influence has become an integral part of our great American culture, especially Irish music and dance.

It has been said if all the history books were destroyed the story of the Irish would still live in their songs and ballads. The charms of the Irish dwell in tender melodies that will touch the heart, happy-go-lucky limericks that tickle the funny bone and haunting laments that yearn for the lush green fields of the Irish homeland.

Irish step dancing has become very popular recently. Of course, Celtic dance is a part of an ancient tradition that expresses the Irish spirit. Suzanne performs this rhythmic dance and also demonstrates its evolution into American clogging.

Flute, guitar, banjo, courtship dulcimer and dancing… a program you won't want to miss! So wear the green and come hear and see Suzanne and Jim present The Irish in America .
